GCC Chief: Gulf Summit reflects leaders' keenness on boosting integration

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 1: Jassim Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), emphasized that the 45th Gulf Summit, hosted by Kuwait on Sunday, demonstrates the Gulf leaders’ dedication to furthering integration and joint cooperation among member states.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Budaiwi noted that the summit, themed "The Future is Gulf," represents a significant step forward in the ongoing process of Gulf integration. He described it as an important milestone in the achievements aimed at realizing deeper cooperation within the GCC.

Al-Budaiwi explained that the summit offers a key platform for coordinating the region's views on both regional and international matters. It will address strategic issues focused on enhancing security and stability in the region, while supporting efforts for sustainable economic development to meet the interests of the GCC peoples.

During the summit, the leaders will discuss a range of topics designed to strengthen Gulf unity across all sectors. Al-Budaiwi highlighted that the GCC continues to serve as a prominent model for collective action, fostering integration and building strong relationships with regional and global partners to ensure worldwide security and stability.

He further noted that the GCC General Secretariat, in close cooperation with Kuwait and other member states, has worked diligently to prepare for the summit, prioritizing key issues to ensure meaningful discussions and outcomes. These efforts aim to bolster the Council's position and its pioneering role in the region.

Al-Budaiwi expressed optimism about the positive and productive outcomes expected from the summit, reflecting the leaders’ visions and the aspirations of the peoples of the GCC countries. He concluded by wishing the summit success and hoped it would achieve important results for the future of the region.

The 45th session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council officially begins today, hosted by the State of Kuwait. The summit is attended by the GCC leaders and their representatives, taking place amidst challenging regional and international circumstances, with high expectations to further strengthen Gulf cooperation and ensure continued progress in sustainable development, security, and stability across the region.
