BERLIN, March 17: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday ruled out any NATO intervention in the war in Ukraine. "NATO bears the responsibility that there is no further escalation in this war in which Putin relies solely on violence," said the German Chancellor in a press conference.
The German official stressed that his country will commit to paying more than 2 percent of its domestic product in the expenses of the Alliance, which is in line with the results of the NATO summit in Wales in 2014.
For his part, Stoltenberg praised Germany's readiness to make this investment and all the assistance provided by Germany to Ukraine in many fields. The NATO Secretary-General arrived in Berlin today to hold consultations on the Ukrainian crisis with Chancellor Olaf Scholz and German Foreign Minister Annalina Birbock.(KUNA)
