KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: Detectives in Tayma successfully apprehended a girl who had been specializing in stealing mobile phones from store displays by breaking the security bases they were mounted on.
Those affected by the repeated thefts filed reports with the security authorities in Jahra Governorate, and the case was forwarded to Tayma detectives. Following investigations and a review of surveillance footage from the theft locations, authorities were able to identify the thief, who turned out to be a young girl. Upon further examination, it was discovered that she had an outstanding two-year prison sentence and eight arrest warrants against her.
The detectives obtained authorization from the Public Prosecution to arrest the suspect in the Jahra Markets area, where they set up a well-coordinated ambush as she attempted to sell one of the stolen phones. When apprehended, she fiercely resisted but was eventually subdued and taken in for questioning.
During the investigation, when confronted with the evidence, the suspect broke down and confessed to committing multiple thefts by breaking the security bases holding the displayed phones. She has since been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
