God deters by authority whoever is not deterred by the Holy Quran

KUWAIT and its people have supported the insightful vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah regarding the cleansing of the national identity. We all heard and obeyed his call in this matter. This decision brought happiness to everyone from all segments of society, as we believe that whatever the ruler decides is for the benefit of the nation.

Indeed, God Almighty deters by authority those who are not deterred by the teachings of the Holy Quran. His Highness the Amir possesses the wisdom to handle this complex and sensitive issue and ensure no one is wronged. As the guardian of the nation, His Highness is fully aware of the needs of his country and is the most knowledgeable about all aspects of this matter. In this regard, everyone is closely following the developments, particularly concerning those who forged documents, hold dual citizenship, and took what is not rightfully theirs through deceit. Such individuals cannot be trusted to safeguard the nation’s supreme interests.

Nevertheless, it is necessary to avoid mistakes that could harm individuals who are not relevant to the matter, given that the guardian, His Highness the Amir, has taken it upon himself to ensure that no one in his country is wronged and that no injustice is done to a woman who has raised a generation that Kuwait is proud of. This generation of Kuwaiti citizens has dedicated itself to the service of their country and knows no other homeland but Kuwait. Therefore, we urge the Council of Ministers to ensure clarity on this issue, so that executive officials are not confused.

Some mothers have dedicated their lives to their husbands and children, and obtained Kuwaiti citizenship legally, under the laws that were in effect at the time. These women followed their husbands’ wishes and willingly gave up their original nationalities to obtain Kuwaiti citizenship. They have lived as citizens alongside their Kuwaiti children, many of whom have become doctors, professors, lawyers, university professors, officers in high positions, as well as ambassadors, ministers, undersecretaries, and senior officials. I fear that some of these women may face the same fate as those who obtained Kuwaiti citizenship through forgery. These women raised elite, loyal, and trustworthy children who worked diligently to serve their country, thanks to the efforts exerted by their mothers who brought them up to love Kuwait.

Moreover, some of these children sacrificed their lives for the sake of Kuwait by participating in the Kuwait Liberation War. During that challenging time, they did not think of privileges or money, as their sole concern was the security of their nation and the safety of their rulers. Indeed, the Kuwaiti people were pleased when the head of state, His Highness the Amir, the protector of justice, issued directives to open the citizenship file and purify it from any instances of forgery. On the other hand, people know well that His Highness the Amir will never tolerate injustice to anyone, as Kuwait, throughout its history, has never been unjust to anyone. It is the nature of its rulers, through the ages, to reject injustice, regardless of its reasons.

Everyone indeed supports punishing the forgers and the corrupt individuals who facilitated such crimes, to cleanse the national identity file. However, there is a group of people who feel that injustice has befallen them, specifically the wives of Kuwaitis who obtained citizenship under the laws that were prevalent at the time. Therefore, it is advisable to consider amending the law to address this issue to ensure that it does not negatively affect a segment of citizens. This matter is in the hands of the Council of Ministers. Countries work to strengthen patriotism and national loyalty, which are rooted in psychological and social stability. Citizens feel they are defending their existence when they defend their homeland. This is achieved by forming a positive, solid relationship between them and their country, which is reflected in their daily lives. In doing so, they will not feel frustrated or disillusioned. Here, we reaffirm that God deters by authority those who are not deterred by the teachings of the Holy Quran.
