Kuwaiti ministers inspect food security warehouses at Abdullah Port

KUWAIT CITY, June 29: A delegation of Kuwaiti ministers conducted an inspection tour of the food security warehouses operated by the Ports Corporation in Abdullah Port. The visit, aimed at ensuring compliance with security and safety standards, underscores the government's commitment to food security and infrastructure development.

The inspection was led by Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan, Minister of Public Works and Minister of Municipality; Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy and Minister of State for Housing Affairs; and Omar Al-Omar, Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister of State for Communications. The ministers emphasized the importance of the strategic stock of rice for the Kuwait Catering Company and the role of KDD warehouses in securing food supplies for the country.

Dr. Al-Mishaan highlighted the crucial role of the Ports Corporation in managing and operating Kuwait's ports. She noted the corporation's ongoing efforts to improve performance, develop port infrastructure, and enhance maritime transport to bolster the national economy in line with political leadership directives. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to achieve sustainable development and improve vital state infrastructure.

Dr. Bushehri addressed the importance of uninterrupted energy supply to the Kuwait Ports Corporation, factories, and warehouses. He reassured that measures are being taken to prevent power outages, especially during the summer, by expanding power stations and enhancing the electricity distribution network. These steps aim to ensure stable and sustainable electricity provision to meet the needs of Kuwaiti citizens and institutions.

Minister Al-Omar stressed the necessity of ensuring food security by providing high-quality basic commodities. He underscored the Ministry of Commerce's priority to uphold strict health and safety standards for goods, promoting the well-being and public health of citizens and residents.

The ministers were accompanied by Major General Khaled Abdullah Fahd, the acting Chief of the General Fire Force. During the tour, Major General Fahd emphasized the importance of adhering to safety and security standards and storage requirements. He highlighted the commitment to ensuring the safety of employees and visitors to the Kuwait Ports Authority and other vital areas, maintaining infrastructure with the highest security and safety standards.
