GTD stats show alarming surge in traffic violations

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 10: The latest statistics from the General Traffic Department reveal a concerning spike in traffic violations, with a total of 33,739 infractions issued last week, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Among these, 22 juveniles were arrested for driving without a driver’s license and were subsequently referred to Juvenile Prosecution, and parents were summoned to find out how the juveniles got access to the car keys without their knowledge. The report also highlighted the detention of 46 motorists for committing serious violations, including driving vehicles with expired registrations. Moreover, 78 vehicles and 77 motorcycles were impounded for committing various types of violations.

The traffic authorities also cracked down on vehicles involved in legal violations, seizing 68 vehicles linked to breach of trust cases, judicial warrants, or criminal execution. The operation led to the detention of 15 individuals wanted for civil or criminal cases, 8 reported absconding and 4 found in possession of narcotics.
