KUWAIT CITY, May 8: The soccer team of the Gulf Bank emerged champions of the Kuwait Banks Club Football Tournament after they defeated the team of the Commercial Bank of Kuwait with a score of 1-0 in the final match which was held on Friday, May 5 at Sabah Al-Salem Stadium in Al-Arabi Club.The only goal of the match was scored by Tareq Wardani in the 15th minute into the second half of the match, giving the Gulf Bank team their second league title.The championship cup was presented to the Gulf Bank team by the Board Director of the Kuwait Banks Club Fadhel Al-Mindi who was accompanied by the club’s officials.The best player award went to the Gulf Bank’s Anas Muhammad, the best goalkeeper award went to the Commercial Bank of Kuwait’s Mohammad Jamal Khaleel and the top scorer award went to Alaa Al-Nawawi from Kuwait Finance House.In addition, Hazem Iskandar, the goalkeeper of Al-Ahli Bank of Kuwait was awarded for being the oldest goalkeeper in the championships organized by the Kuwait Banks Club since 2002. In addition Bassam Shaker from Kuwait Finance House won the award for being the oldest player since 1999.The Warba Bank team were awarded for being the ideal team, while the best coach of the season award went to Abdulaziz Al-Hindi from the Gulf Bank.Bader Al-Safar was honored on behalf of the acting head of Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Jaber Al-Ali. Commemoration shields were given to various representatives of the banks and also to Al-Arabi Sports Club for hosting the tournament.This year’s Kuwait Banks Club Football Tournament was held under the auspices of the Board Director of the Union of Kuwaiti Banks Majed Essa Al-Ajeel.
