Professional hacker reveals mobile device vulnerabilities.

NEW YORK, Dec 3: In an era where smartphones are ubiquitous, it's common for users to rely on these devices for various tasks beyond calls and texts. However, the perceived safety of mobile devices may be deceptive, warns Keiran Burge, a security consultant at Prism Infosec and a professional hacker.

Burge, who specializes in testing companies' cybersecurity to identify vulnerabilities, recently spoke to the Daily Mail, unveiling common mistakes that could expose users to potential exploitation by hackers within seconds.

One crucial aspect highlighted by Burge is the importance of keeping devices up-to-date with the latest software. Out-of-date software poses a significant security risk, as updates often address vulnerabilities. According to Burge, "If the software has been updated, it's probably because there is a security issue," making regular updates essential to thwart potential attacks.

Password reuse is another risky practice that Burge cautions against. Using the same password across multiple sites can lead to severe security vulnerabilities. In the event of a breach on one platform, hackers may gain access to other accounts, emphasizing the need for unique passwords for different sites.

Burge also underscores the significance of exercising caution when sharing information online. The extent of personal information shared can contribute to security risks, making it crucial for users to evaluate and minimize their online disclosures.

"As soon as a company is breached, there's usually a big database dump that gets put on the dark web," warns Burge, emphasizing the real-world consequences of security breaches.

For individuals in their day-to-day activities, particularly concerning online interactions, Burge suggests a careful consideration of the information shared. By staying vigilant, keeping software updated, avoiding password reuse, and minimizing online disclosures, users can significantly enhance the security of their mobile devices.
