KUWAIT CITY, Oct 19: As meteorologists foresee the potential for sporadic light rainfall in specific regions over the weekend, authoritative sources within the Ministry of Public Works have confirmed the successful completion of cleaning the rainwater drainage network in target areas.

These efforts have primarily focused on locations prone to recurring rainwater accumulation. Reliable sources told Al-Rai daily, that the anticipated rainfall in the next day or two is expected to be mild and scattered, thereby negating the necessity for an elevated state of alert, reports Al-Rai daily.

This assessment extends to all relevant entities, including the Ministry, the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport (PART), and the Rain and Floods Repercussions Committee.

Khaled Al-Osaimi, the Acting Director of PART, has personally inspected the readiness of subway station pumps to ensure their proper functioning.

Moreover, it has been revealed that water suction pumps and related equipment will be strategically deployed to critical locations, encompassing major highways and specific residential areas. Furthermore, continuous coordination remains in place with the Meteorological Department and all relevant stakeholders responsible for managing the rainy season.

In terms of the sanitary engineering sector's preparedness for the rainy season, the sources affirm that purification facilities distributed across the country are fully equipped to handle any excess water resulting from rainfall. Operators at these stations have been duly apprised and are in a state of readiness for the impending rainy season.

Meanwhile, Meteorologist Fahd Al-Otaibi provided insights, indicating that the potential for rain commenced last night and will persist through today, with a decrease in likelihood on Friday, followed by a resurgence, likely on Sunday or Monday. He emphasized that any rainfall that does materialize will be light and scattered, impacting specific regions.

Al-Otaibi also anticipates that the nation will experience varying degrees of rainfall in November, ranging from moderate to heavy, with intermittent showers extending into the winter season and onwards into the Sarayat season.
