KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: According to the Ministry of Health in 2022 and until August 2023 the primary health care centers have issued a total of 3,377,106 sick leave certificates, while they amounted to 2.7 million sick leaves as of last August, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The announcement said the ministry has now approved the proposal put forth by the Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi about the new electronic platform to issue sick leaves and that the specific details of this mechanism will be clarified in the upcoming weeks, prior to the service’s implementation. Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, the ministry’s spokesperson, elaborated that the proposal presented to the Civil Service Commission sought to amend Civil Service Council Resolution 39 of 2006.
This amendment will enable employees to obtain specified sick leaves through electronic platforms, aligning with the practices seen in advanced healthcare systems. The introduction of this new service is a response to situations where medical consultation is unnecessary, making it more convenient for citizens and alleviating the burden on healthcare centers and medical personnel. Dr. Al-Sanad emphasized that the service will enhance public satisfaction, reduce the risk of disease transmission during periods of seasonal illness, and result in fewer patient visits and reduced waiting times.
