Farwaniya Hospital's new fertility and reproduction facility.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 21: This morning, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, Minister of Health, officially inaugurated the Fertility and Assisted Reproduction Unit at Farwaniya Hospital, marking the third facility of its kind dedicated to "Fertility Medicine" in Kuwait. In a statement to reporters, Minister Al-Awadhi emphasized the Ministry of Health’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality and safe medical services to the citizens of Kuwait. He highlighted the new unit as a significant enhancement to the Ministry’s healthcare system, representing a notable advancement in medical services.

Minister Al-Awadhi described the Fertility and Assisted Reproduction Unit at Farwaniya Hospital as a major addition to the health sector, noting that it embodies the Ministry’s dedication to offering exceptional healthcare services and addressing the demand for reduced waiting times. He also commended the inclusion of top consultants and specialists who will ensure that the services meet the latest international standards.

Dr. Amal Khader, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Departments Council and Head of the Obstetrics Department at Farwaniya Hospital, affirmed that the opening of this unit underscores the dedication and hard work of the Ministry’s medical, nursing, and administrative staff. She explained that the unit will provide consultations for couples experiencing delayed pregnancies and perform necessary examinations to diagnose and treat the causes of infertility. The unit will employ advanced techniques, including ovulation induction, ICSI, and IVF, in accordance with modern scientific and international protocols.

Dr. Khader further noted that the unit will also address male infertility in collaboration with urology consultants. It aims to assist couples in having genetically and hereditarily healthy children through in vitro fertilization techniques and genetic screening. The facility is equipped with six medical consultation rooms for fertility and urology specialists, two rooms for artificial insemination, two rooms for semen collection, and an embryo culture laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment.

Additionally, the unit features a semen analysis and preparation laboratory, a microinjection laboratory, a genetic testing laboratory, and two fully equipped operating rooms. The facility includes an egg retrieval device, a surgical microscope for collecting testicular tissue for male infertility treatments, and two anesthesia rooms.
