KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11: The Ministry of Health has confirmed that a video about cholesterol-lowering medications circulating on social media is inaccurate and misleading. The ministry emphasized that the claims in the video are not supported by reliable scientific evidence.
In a statement, the ministry clarified that the medications available in the country are used in line with recommendations from international medical guidelines and have been proven effective in reducing cardiovascular diseases. The ministry also highlighted the importance of measuring LDL (bad cholesterol) and total cholesterol levels, stating that this is a crucial element in assessing heart disease risk, contrary to the claims made in the video.
Citizens were urged to seek information from qualified medical professionals rather than relying on inaccurate online sources. The Ministry further warned against the spread of incorrect medical information, which could potentially harm public health.
To ensure society's safety, the ministry announced that, in accordance with established regulations, legal action would be taken against individuals who disseminate misleading health information.
