KUWAIT CITY, Feb 23: The Kuwait fish market saw a boom in local fish sale after Ports Authority decided to ban Iranian ships due to coronavirus endemic in Iran reports Al Rai.
The president of the Fishermen Union, Zahir Al-Soyan, said that the improved weather and spring break have created ideal conditions for local fishing and there has been great demand with affordable prices for all.
He pointed out that the decision of the Ports Authority contributed to withdrawing the Iranian fish from the market and leaving the opportunity for the local fish to dominate the market and fulfill the supply and demand from consumers.
Al-Suwaiyan said that it was necessary to tighten control of the concerned authorities and not allow the entry of Iranian fish through other countries such as Pakistan, India or the UAE.
Health sources have warned of the danger of human gatherings in the fish market, reminding that the first spark of the coronavirus started from the Chinese city of Wuhan was from a seafood market.
