KUWAIT CITY, Apr 1: With milder temperatures, public parks have become popular destinations for families during the Eid holiday. They offer a serene escape that combines natural beauty with open spaces for children to play. Several parks across the country had a large number of visitors. Al-Shaheed Park attracted the largest crowd, thanks to its stunning fireworks display, which mesmerized families and children alike.
In a park in Rumaithiya, engineer Khaled Al Banani, a father of five, shared that public parks have become his family’s preferred outing, not just during
holidays but on weekends. “Going to malls and restaurants is quite expensive, especially with children. In contrast, public parks offer ample space for play and enjoyment, and we can bring our food from home, which helps reduce costs,” he explained.
Al Banani added that he favors this particular park because it is close to his home, features free sports fields, and is not overcrowded. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to meet new people from the neighborhood.
Families organize group lunches and dinners beneath the park’s trees. Abu Muhammad Al-Hawrani, who was gathered with relatives and friends around tables filled with food, noted that parks provide an excellent setting for social gatherings, especially since residential apartments often lack the space to accommodate large groups. “Each family brings special dishes, and we coordinate our preparations in advance. The children play, the women chat, and we all unwind, free from the stresses of daily life,” he said.
He emphasized their commitment to leaving the park clean and ensuring no waste is left behind.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Umm Youssef, celebrating her son’s birthday with a group of his schoolmates, highlighted that parks have become an ideal venue for hosting simple birthday parties. “Instead of spending hundreds of dinars at restaurants, we celebrate my son’s birthday here, surrounded by nature,” she said.
In Salwa Park, Umm Nawaf, a mother of three, remarked, “Parks allow us to bond as a family, away from screens and electronic devices.” She added that the park is conveniently located near her home, and her children love playing outdoors. She enjoys watching them enjoy fun while enjoying the beautiful surroundings, all without worrying about expenses. However, she expressed her hope that the authorities would repair some of the playground equipment, which has been broken for years, so that children can fully enjoy their time at the park.
