Kuwait revokes citizenship of 78 more people of multiple origins
Kuwait's Higher Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality recommends the withdrawal of nationality from 78 individuals.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29 : During its meeting on Thursday, presided over by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Citizenship decided to withdraw Kuwaiti nationality of 78 individuals. The decision will be referred to the Council of Ministers for further consideration. The Ministry of Interior stated to announce this decision after the committee’s meeting.

The members of the committee include the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheridah Al-Muasharji, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Saleh Al-Mulla, and Secretary of the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Citizenship Counselor Mubarak Bu Khail.

The statement outlined the committee’s decision as follows:

Loss of Kuwaiti nationality: 17 cases affected, based on Article 11 of Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15/1959 and its amendments.

Withdrawal of Kuwaiti nationality certificates: 29 cases affected, per Article 21 bis (a) of Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15/1959 and its amendments.

Withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship: 32 cases affected, per Article 13 of Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15/1959 and its amendments. The individuals affected by the decision are of a big range of nationalities, including Saudi, Egyptian, Jordanian, Palestinian, Syrian, Iraqi, Lebanese, Somali, Iranian, American, and Bedoun.

In May, an Amiri decree was issued to form the Supreme Committee to Investigate Kuwaiti Citizenship, appointing First Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister and Interior Minister as the Committee’s head, while the deputy prime minister and minister of state for cabinet affairs, the foreign minister and secretary general of the council of ministers are also members.

Earlier, Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, reaffirmed the ongoing efforts to enforce labor market regulations through inspections and visits to worker gathering sites across various governorates.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior reported that Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef chaired a meeting with the Public Authority for Manpower’s board of directors.

The meeting, attended by Acting Director General Marzouq Al-Otaibi and other board members, was part of continuous efforts to enhance and develop policies that serve the country’s various sectors.

The Minister commended the ongoing work by the Authority to improve labor market mechanisms and meet its needs, ensuring that the strategic goals of the state in human and economic development are achieved. Additionally, the Minister was briefed on security campaigns targeting residency law violators and means to address these issues.(KUNA)
