KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16:  Dr. Mahmoud Abdulaziz Bushehri, the Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, officially launched a campaign on Saturday to plant trees along highways in Ahmadi Governorate. This initiative is carried out in coordination with Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, various state institutions, and civil society organizations.

The Public Authority for Agriculture and Fish Resources (PAAFR) announced in a statement that Minister Bushehri commended the significant role of the authority. The first phase of landscaping has already been completed, covering Airport Road, the Sixth Ring Road, and King Fahd Road, in cooperation with the Roads and Transport Authority, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Electricity and Water.

Minister Bushehri emphasized that efforts are ongoing to expand landscaping efforts across all governorates in Kuwait.

In his remarks, Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah highlighted that the campaign's objectives include raising environmental awareness, supporting sustainable development, and increasing green spaces along highways. These initiatives aim to combat pollution and enhance the appearance of public roads in the governorate.

Sheikh Humoud further explained that the campaign targets planting 100,000 seedlings, a move intended to encourage community involvement in environmental preservation and foster volunteer efforts in afforestation across various areas of Ahmadi Governorate.

Engineer Nasser Taqi, the Director of the Authority, noted that the launch of this campaign marks an important milestone in the Authority's project to plant and green Kuwait, as well as to revitalize areas with little or no vegetation. He praised the collaboration between state agencies, including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, Kuwaiti oil companies, the Ministry of Education, civil society groups, and local volunteers for their contributions to the Green Urban Development Program and their active role in greening Kuwait.
