LOS ANGELES, April 23: Marvel Studios has ignited excitement among fans with the release of a new trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” showcasing Hugh Jackman’s long-awaited return as the iconic Wolverine character.

In the trailer dropped on Monday, Jackman’s Wolverine is seen suiting up alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, marking the first appearance of the character since 2017’s “Logan.” The duo teams up for a mission initiated by the Time Variance Authority from the “Loki” series.

The trailer opens with Deadpool seeking Wolverine’s help at a bar, confronting him about his world’s troubles. Jackman’s Wolverine, donning a yellow suit reminiscent of his comic book appearance, engages in a heated exchange with Deadpool, emphasizing he’s no hero.

The highly anticipated crossover also marks Deadpool’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. The trailer teases connections to the wider MCU, including references to characters like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange.

In classic “Deadpool” style, the trailer includes humorous nods to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, poking fun at concerns about tonal shifts under Disney’s management.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” signals Jackman’s unexpected return to the role after previously indicating he was done with Wolverine following “Logan.” However, the opportunity to reunite with Reynolds’ Deadpool convinced him otherwise.

While some fans have expressed concerns about the film undoing Wolverine’s emotional death scene in “Logan,” Jackman and Reynolds have reassured that the 2017 movie’s conclusion will remain intact.

Set to hit theaters on July 26, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is poised to be Marvel Studios’ sole release in 2024, with expectations riding high on its success amidst recent box office disappointments for the studio.
