KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: Security teams in the Ministry of Interior have intensified their efforts to arrest the two unknown individuals who started a fire on Thursday night in the vicinity of the home belonging to the Head of a department in the Court of Cassation Judge Sultan Bouresli, reports Al-Seyassah daily. This move came under increasing public pressure, and after the incident turned into an issue of public opinion affecting the most important detail in the country’s authorities.

This occurred two days before the ruling, which is scheduled to be issued today, on the appeal submitted by the Public Prosecution against the acquittal of His Highness the former Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak, the former Minister of Defense and Interior Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah, and others accused in the Army Fund case.

Seriousness
What increased the seriousness of the situation was the death threat that the judge received one week ago, according to what Ziad Bouresli reported in his account on the X platform after revealing the incident on Thursday. He wrote, “One week ago, Judge Bouresli was subjected to an attempted assassination threat. Two days after the ruling in the Army Fund case, his car and the fence of his house were set on fire in an attempt to intimidate and threaten him.

Everyone knows that the honorable judge will not deviate from the truth, no matter what it is. He will not be intimidated by your despicable actions. The judge is in good health and is doing well. However, what happened is a clear violation of the judicial authority. We call on the officers in the Ministry of Interior to quickly follow up on the incident and identify the perpetrator so that they may receive the most severe penalties. This action will not dissuade the judge, who always speaks the truth, from speaking his mind on the issue of the army fund.”

Threatened
Meanwhile, the former Minister of Information Saad Bin Tafl wrote in his X account, “It is only in mafia states, drug gangs, and failed states that judges who are just and their families are threatened, kidnapped, and killed in order to discourage them from issuing their rulings according to what the law and a living, impartial conscience dictate.”

Furthermore, Lawyer Jasser Al- Jadai said, “What Judge Bouresli was exposed to is something that hurts us and worries us, and the state must protect him. We must also protect him with the tools we have, as he is a judge with a history of adjudication and judgment. We know his standing among lawyers and judges, and we do not accept attacks on him or exposing him to danger.” Also, Dr. Faisal Al-Kandari said, “Protecting him and his family is the responsibility of the Minister of Interior. The blatant attack on his house and the burning of his car only happens in countries where joints are controlled by corrupt people who are confident that the law will not be applied to them, and the state of law is not a refuge for everyone.”

Addressing the Minister of Interior, he said, “Minister of Interior, you have an urgent task to arrest the perpetrators and bring their heads to justice so that we may live in a country of safety.” Even though the Ministry of Interior did not issue a statement about the incident, reliable sources explained that two unidentified people on board an All-Terrain-Vehicle (buggy), each wearing a helmet on his head, went to the house of Judge Bouresli and poured gasoline under his car and on the fence and then started the fire. Two young men, who happened to be at the scene, hurried to extinguish the fire using fire extinguishers with the help of the judge’s neighbors. In the chaos, the fire starters and those who were with them managed to flee.

Security personnel rushed to the place and opened an immediate investigation to identify the perpetrators. Records from nearby surveillance cameras proved that the two masked individuals entered the vicinity of Judge Bouresli’s house. According to preliminary investigations, the crime was planned in advance, as the perpetrators monitored the site for a few days and chose to commit the crime late at night so that the place would be void of bypassers. They had intended to set fire on a larger scale, but an eye-witness prevented them from completing their crime.

Immediately after the Ministry of Interior was informed of the incident, investigators and forensic personnel searched the site. A mobile security patrol team was assigned to guard Judge Bouresli’s house. Investigations are underway to arrest the accused. The sources affirmed that there is great interest in this case, and higher instructions have been issued to arrest the suspects and find out the reasons and motives behind the incident. They revealed that the instructions stressed the need for the protection of judges and the lack of tolerance for anyone who destabilizes the security of the country or attacks others, regardless of their position either in a public office or elsewhere and that there should be no tolerance for criminals.
