KUWAIT CITY, Jan 18: Around 54,000 non graduate expats who are 60 yrs of age are awaiting final decision regarding the renewal of their residence permit. On other hand the companies have been terminating services of their expat employees who are sixty yrs and above. The companies gave them a choice either to resign, terminate or transfer their residence.

The departments informed them as they had to take steps to reduce risk from the government's final decision. The decision to renew their work permits is based on the circumstances of companies' need for them, reports Al Rai. Expats who are sixty and above who want to renew their work permit will face new problem ie. search for a new sponsor.
The issue to ban work permit renewal for expats above 60 yrs of age is still awaiting a decree to be issued from  the Ministry of Justice and Minister of State for Integrity Affairs, Counselor Jamal Al-Jalawi who will take final decision whether to cancel the ban or approve the renewal with a fee of KD 500 plus mandatory health insurance or leave as it is.

Sources stated that the Minister Al Jalawi has a complete vision of the issue and work is underway to adopt the easiest solution for expats preserving their rights without causing harm to the economy at same time.
