NEW DELHI, March 11: Indian government on Friday expressed deep regret to it's neighbour Pakistan over a missile that fell in its territory on Thursday following an accidental firing. A statement from the Indian Ministry of Defence expressed deep regret over a technical malfunction that led to the accidental firing of a missile towards Pakistan. "On 9 March 2022, in the course of a routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile," the statement said.

India said that it has taken a serious view of the development and ordered a high-level Court of Enquiry. "It is learnt that the missile landed in an area of Pakistan. While the incident is deeply regrettable, it is also a matter of relief that there has been no loss of life due to the accident," it added. Pakistan has summoned India's Charge d'Affaires in Islamabad earlier today to protest the unprovoked violation of it's air space and warned of serious consequences. Reports said that a super-sonic flying object entered into Pakistan from Indian territory on March 9 and fell in Mian Chunnu city in Pakistan's Punjab province. (KUNA)
