Indian companies encouraged to invest in Kuwait's development projects

KUWAIT CITY, July 28: The Indian Ambassador to the country, Dr. Adarsh Swaika, confirmed that “the Indian community is the largest community residing in Kuwait, and its number is close to one million, according to statistics for the year 2023, and they include skilled and technical workers, doctors, engineers, nurses, accountants, and also domestic workers,” noting that they entered Kuwait by the procedures and agreements concluded between the two countries.

"The campaigns carried out by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior against violators are purely an internal procedure, and I believe that all countries follow the same procedure with violators of their residency system. We respect the law and the procedures carried out by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, and what matters to us is that there are close relations between Kuwait and India," Dr. Swaika told Al-Rai.

He praised the results of the meetings of the sixth round of political consultations between the two countries, adding that "Joint Secretary for Gulf Affairs at the Ministry of External Affairs, Aseem Mahajan, headed the Indian delegation, and the meetings between the two sides were fruitful with the Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat ."

He pointed out that "Mahajan also met with officials from the Kuwaiti government, and the discussions were serious on many issues related to relations between our two countries, and there is a great understanding between the two sides regarding the progress of our bilateral relations in all fields."

The ambassador denied that "the two sides signed new cooperation agreements, but rather conducted a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, and exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest. We felt great satisfaction with the growth of our traditionally strong bilateral relationship, and agreed to enhance cooperation in various fields, including political relations, regular high-level exchanges, trade, investment, education, technology, health, culture, and people-to-people contacts, as well as our vision on issues of common interest."

He stressed that Kuwait and India have identical visions on issues of common interest.

He stated that "it was agreed to hold the next Foreign Ministry consultation meeting in New Delhi, at a time convenient for both parties. Indian companies are encouraged to enter the Kuwaiti market and implement major development projects, as Kuwait welcomes Indian companies to contribute to implementing development projects and infrastructure in Kuwait."
