KUWAIT CITY, Nov 20: The Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre (JACC) hosted an enchanting evening of classical Indian music, featuring the globally renowned violinist Dr. Lakshminarayana Subramaniam. Recognized as one of India's most celebrated musicians, Dr. Subramaniam is a master of both Indian classical Carnatic music and Western classical music.
The event captivated the audience, who responded with enthusiasm and admiration for the violinist’s extraordinary performance. Accompanied by his son, Ambi Subramaniam, the father-son duo delivered a mesmerizing performance, weaving magic with their violins and earning resounding applause throughout the evening.
Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Adarsh Swaika, highlighted the cultural connections between India and Kuwait in his remarks: “India and Kuwait share age-old ties of friendship, culture, and people-to-people connections. There are many similarities in our way of life, food, wisdom, and music is no exception.” He further noted, “Bollywood movies and music enjoy immense popularity in Kuwait, with many new Indian film releases screened in Kuwaiti theatres. Indian classical music is also highly appreciated.”
Dr. Swaika also reflected on the success of the concert, saying, “We witnessed significant participation from our Kuwaiti friends in the performance by Dr. Subramaniam, one of the greatest and most celebrated Indian and international violinists. Similarly, last year’s concert by the world-famous Indian Sarod player Amjad Ali Khan was widely praised by Kuwaitis, diplomats, and members of the Indian community.”
