Kuwait soccer players preparing for the World Cup and Asian Cup qualifier against India.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 12: Kuwait faced a setback as Ahmed Al-Dhafiri was ruled out of the upcoming match against India, a crucial fixture in the joint Asian qualifiers for the World Cup 2026 and the Asian Cup 2027. Due to an injury, Al-Dhafiri's absence from the technical team's plans is confirmed, with hopes pinned on his potential return for the match against Afghanistan later this month.

Despite this setback, the rest of Al-Azraq's squad remained injury-free and fully prepared for the opening match, aiming to secure victory and earn three valuable points in the group stage. Training at the Friendship and Peace Stadium in Kazma Club showcased the team's emphasis on speed and efficient ball movement, with Coach Rui Pinto focusing on transitioning quickly from attack to defense.

As Kuwait ready themselves, the Indian team is set to arrive tomorrow, according to a letter from the Indian Football Association. The team will adhere to FIFA regulations, conducting training upon arrival and further sessions at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti Olympic team, is currently in a training camp in the Emirates, under the guidance of Portuguese coach Emilio Peixe. The team's second training session aimed to prepare players for the AFC U-23 Cup, a crucial step toward qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The team's itinerary includes friendly matches against the Emirates and Tajikistan later this month, with Coach Peixe keen on providing ample opportunities for players to gain exposure to diverse football styles.
