KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15: An inspection campaign conducted by the Mubarakiya Inspection Center at the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition targeted food establishments in the Capital Governorate, resulting in the closure of 12 businesses and the issuance of various violation reports.

Ali Hashem Al-Kandari, Director of the Capital Governorate Inspection Department, informed that the closures were prompted by several observed violations. These included the display of meat and fish unfit for human consumption, with noticeable changes in their natural properties such as color, shape, and smell. Additionally, the inspection uncovered the circulation of adulterated foods, including meat of unknown origin without any nutritional information, and the operation of a facility without the proper licensing from the authority.

Al-Kandari further explained that some of the violations detected were severe enough to be referred to the Public Prosecution, with penalties potentially reaching fines of up to 100,000 Kuwaiti dinars. He urged establishment owners to strictly follow personal hygiene standards during work, refrain from trading food without obtaining the necessary health certificates, and ensure that all employees are certified. He also emphasized the importance of adhering to general health regulations within food establishments.

He reiterated the importance of continuing these inspection tours to ensure the safety and security of food products for consumers. Al-Kandari called on food establishment owners to comply with health specifications, requirements, and food safety standards.
