KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah emphasized that he "will never allow" any harm to come to Kuwait's reputation, particularly in the realm of human rights, stating that "Kuwait's reputation is above all considerations." This statement was made in a press release issued by the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media at the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday, following Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef's meeting with representatives from various companies, which was attended by Marzouq Al-Otaibi, the Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower.
The discussion focused on the mechanisms for implementing the Cabinet's decision regarding the regular payment of wages to workers and included listening to the suggestions and observations of company representatives. Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef reiterated that legal actions will be taken against any companies that violate the Cabinet's decision, emphasizing that "no one is above the law" and that enforcement will be consistent for all.
He also mentioned that he will closely monitor the companies' adherence to the regular payment of their workers' wages, highlighting that delays or failures in wage payments could lead workers to stage sit-ins or strikes, disrupting work operations.
The Minister directed the intensification of inspection tours for all companies employing workers to ensure compliance with the Cabinet decision and verify that workers have indeed received their salaries. He stated that immediate legal measures will be taken against any violating companies. Sheikh Fahad emphasized that any company failing to pay its workers' wages will face prompt legal action, assuring that all necessary facilities will be provided to help companies meet their obligations in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
