The Kuwait Football Association issued a circular signed by its Secretary-General, Mr. Saleh Nasser Al-Majroub, which made rounds on the social media, bearing the number 2025/2, addressed to all employees, administrators, coaches and assistant coaches working at the Kuwait Football Association, informing them, “after offering them its best regards,” that it would like to inform them that the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Football Association has decided not to renew their employment contracts when they expire, and that the renewal will be, if any, by a decision from the Board of Directors!
Certainly, we do not wish to dispute this right, and while we acknowledge the linguistic and stylistic errors in the circular -- which should not have been included in a document issued by an entity of both local and international standing -- we believe it would have been more appropriate, at the very least, out of respect, to avoid issuing a general notice to all union employees regarding the termination of their contracts.
The circular, which may have been widely disseminated through communication channels, included unwelcome remarks that could have been avoided . Instead, the Secretary-General should have sent personalized, official letters to each individual within the union, informing them of the Board of Directors' decision.
A circular that mixes both positive and negative messages is not the best approach, as each person holds a unique position, and every employment contract has its own distinct nature and terms, particularly when it comes to contract termination.
Furthermore, informing employees of contract termination in such an impersonal and harsh manner will leave a bitter impression that won't easily fade, even if the Board later decides to reinstate them.
The Secretary-General should also have emphasized the importance of safeguarding the financial and moral rights of all employees, ensuring fair compensation for contract termination, and protecting their rights during the notice period.
Moreover, considering that some of the individuals involved have made valuable contributions and efforts in their roles, the Secretary-General should have communicated any intentions to honor them, rather than dismissing them in such a disheartening manner.
Lastly, since the Secretary-General is operating on assignment, and perhaps the entire Board of Directors is as well, one may wonder: If a new Board of Directors is appointed, will we see a counter-circular addressing this matter?
The security forces succeeded, in record time, in arresting two expatriates from an African country, who stole large sums of money from an exchange office.
The achievement of Fahad Al-Yousef's men deserves praise, and we demand that they reveal the identity of the citizen who facilitated their entry into the country!
The Ministry of Interior also deserves thanks for its decision to lift the ‘block’ or ban that was imposed, since the liberation, on the entry of certain Arab nationalities into the country.
And thanks for its decision to facilitate family visits. We hope that it will make an effort to prevent some of those who will come during Ramadan, as usual, for the purpose of begging.
