KUWAIT CITY, April 26: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi emphasized the pivotal role of internal medicine specialists in Kuwait's healthcare system during his opening address at the inaugural Kuwait Internal Medicine Association Conference (KIMAC 2025). The event, held at The Regency Kuwait in Salmiya from April 24 to 26, brought together leading medical professionals from various hospitals and specialized associations across the country.

Dr. Al-Awadhi described internal medicine as the "beating heart" of medical practice, integrating diagnostic expertise, precision treatment, and a holistic approach that connects various specialties to deliver comprehensive patient care. He highlighted that internal medicine physicians serve as the frontline in addressing health challenges, encompassing roles in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, research, education, and innovation.

The Minister outlined the Ministry of Health's strategic vision to support internal medicine professionals and their subspecialties. This vision includes enhancing the medical work environment with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies, fostering creativity and excellence among medical personnel, and launching advanced training programs both domestically and internationally to ensure continuous professional development. Additionally, Dr. Al-Awadhi emphasized the importance of adopting effective preventive strategies to combat chronic diseases, activating specialized clinics, and increasing community awareness to alleviate the burden on healthcare facilities.

Furthermore, the Ministry aims to bolster scientific research and clinical trials, encouraging physicians to innovate and engage in research that positions Kuwait as a leader in internal medicine. The integration of artificial intelligence and digital medicine technologies is also a priority, aiming to enhance diagnostic and treatment processes and improve the efficiency of the healthcare system.

Dr. Al-Awadhi expressed his gratitude to the Kuwait Internal Medicine Association for organizing the conference, acknowledging it as a scientific beacon that highlights the latest developments and innovations in internal medicine and contributes to advancing medical progress and improving health services in Kuwait.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Othman, Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee, noted that the conference reflects the Association's commitment to development through partnership. He emphasized that the health challenges faced today necessitate effective coordination, knowledge exchange, and a unified scientific approach based on best practices and evidence-based medicine.

The conference serves as a platform for fostering collaboration and integration among internal medicine departments in various Kuwaiti hospitals, aiming to improve the quality of health services provided to patients. Since its establishment, the Kuwait Internal Medicine Association has worked to consolidate the specialty's status and enhance its role in the medical community by organizing scientific meetings, training courses, and contributing to the development of unified medical protocols in cooperation with hospital administrations. The Association has also represented Kuwait in numerous regional and international events, enhancing the presence of national competencies in medical forums.

KIMAC 2025 continues through Saturday, April 26, featuring a comprehensive program of workshops, lectures, and panel discussions across various themes, including cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, neurology, and infectious diseases.
