KUWAIT CITY, Jan 9: The 11th edition of the "Atyab Al Marshoud" International Championship, organized annually by Waleed Al Marshoud, is underway at the Kuwait Equestrian Center. The event features top male and female riders from Kuwait, as well as representatives from various Gulf and European countries. The competition is intense, with several riders vying for the prestigious title.
On the second day of the championship, which begins at 2:00 pm, riders will compete in rounds set at heights of 120, 135, and 140 cm. The final day, tomorrow, will feature rounds at 125, 135, and 145 cm, with the latter being the Grand Prize event.
Karim Badaro, the Lebanese international referee representing the International Equestrian Federation, shared his thoughts on Kuwaiti equestrianism: "I have been closely following Kuwaiti equestrianism for years, and it has shown remarkable growth. Kuwait now hosts three international championships per season, with each season seeing improvements in organization. These international competitions aim to enhance the technical level of equestrianism, which is evident in the success of Kuwaiti riders abroad. The quality of Kuwaiti horses has also improved, especially with the participation of foreign riders and horses in local events, creating a dynamic and competitive environment."
Badaro further emphasized that the achievements of Kuwaiti equestrianism are a result of strategic planning by the relevant authorities. He also mentioned that Kuwait will host two 3-star national championships in February, where riders can earn points to qualify for the World Cup in Riyadh next April.
