KUWAIT CITY, Oct 28: The Iranian Embassy in Kuwait has rejected allegations by the Kuwaiti government concerning an Iranian citizen's alleged involvement in a plot to assassinate figures or carry out activities that could threaten Kuwait's national security, claiming that the individual had not been in Kuwait for the past 10 years.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran categorically denied the allegations, describing them as baseless and criticising what it called a continued negative approach towards Iran.

The embassy said the repeated accusations of Iranian interference in Kuwait's internal affairs were based on “flimsy and worn-out scenarios.”

It argued that making what it described as baseless accusations against Iranian citizens contradicted the principles of good neighborliness and violated international law.

The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions, with the Iranian embassy referring to what it described as American and Israeli military aggression against Iran.

“In light of the serious repercussions our region is witnessing,” the embassy said, regional countries should pursue responsible and wise policies to prevent further escalation of tensions affecting the entire region.

The embassy called for policies aimed at preventing further strife, warning against steps that could aggravate the regional situation.

The statement represents Iran's official response to the allegations. The embassy's claim that the individual had not been in Kuwait for a decade was not independently verified in the statement.
