KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: The Iraqi authorities handed over to Kuwait a Gulf national wanted by law for involvement in terrorism cases. A reliable source from the security sector told the daily that the suspect was rumored to have been arrested at Abdally border; clarifying the suspect was not arrested at the border, but was handed over to the Kuwaiti authorities in response to the extradition request that Kuwait sent to Iraq earlier.
The source elaborated that Kuwait previously sent a request to extradite the suspect through Interpol, since the Kuwaiti authorities received a cable from the Iraqi authorities about the suspect’s arrest. The source stated that the suspect will serve the prison sentence imposed on him in Kuwait; then he will be extradited to his country, where he was convicted in terrorism-related cases in 2011.
