DOHA, Jan 15: Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza, bringing an end to a 15-month conflict that has resulted in significant loss of life and infrastructure damage. The agreement, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, includes a phased release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners, as well as the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region. The ceasefire is set to commence on Sunday, with an initial six-week period during which Israeli forces will begin a partial withdrawal from Gaza. In exchange, Hamas will release 33 hostages, including women, children, and those in critical condition. Subsequent phases will involve the release of additional hostages and prisoners, along with efforts to reconstruct Gaza. While the deal has been met with celebrations in Gaza, it awaits formal approval from Israeli government officials
