KUWAIT CITY, July 8: Tomorrow, the Technical Committee of the Municipal Council, led by Eng. Munira Al-Amir is scheduled to convene to discuss the municipality’s report on the Jahra Waterfront Project, also known as the "Corniche." Located along the northern coastline of Jaber Al-Ahmad Residential City, the project area is bordered by the Doha West Station to the east and the Jahra Nature Reserve under the Public Authority for the Environment to the west.

Key points from the municipality’s technical opinion include:

  1. Site Allocation and Development: Approval has been granted to allocate approximately 5,794,715 square meters of land for the development of the Jahra Waterfront Project. This area will be offered to the private sector for investment, subject to compliance with relevant laws and procedures. Conditions include adherence to ministry requirements, potential adjustments to site dimensions to accommodate existing infrastructure, compliance with environmental regulations set by the Public Environment Authority, and adherence to approved traffic studies by the Ministry of Interior.
  2. Project Planning Approval: The detailed general plan for the project has been endorsed, outlining the specific components, uses, building areas, and rental spaces across three designated areas (A, B, and C). These plans align with final reports submitted by project consultants, ensuring adherence to specified project components.
  3. Chalet Removal and Additional Space: Coordination with the Ministry of Finance is underway to remove chalets currently within the project boundaries, in accordance with Public Environment Authority requirements. Additionally, an extra area of 15,000 square meters will be allocated for future activities such as mobile vehicle operations, exhibitions, and service facilities. This area, situated within green spaces, corridors, open areas, and parking lots, will be utilized for non-commercial purposes after obtaining municipal licensing.
  4. Revisions and Decisions: Previous decisions conflicting with the project site will be cancelled to streamline project implementation and ensure alignment with current municipal objectives.

The upcoming committee meeting aims to finalize these plans and pave the way for further development of the Jahra Waterfront Project, underscoring efforts to enhance recreational and environmental offerings in the area.
