KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: The once-distant dream of piloting a colossal robot akin to "Grendizer" or other iconic mechas from the realm of Japanese animation has transformed into reality thanks to Japanese inventor Ryo Yoshida. He has brought to life a formidable creation named "Archax," a colossal robot measuring 4.5 meters in length and weighing 3.5 tons. This mechanical marvel can reach speeds of up to 10 kilometers per hour and is maneuvered from within a high-tech cockpit.
Inside this cockpit, the operator can seamlessly control the robot's 26 joints, including its massive hands, using a combination of two joysticks, two pedals, and a touchscreen interface, reports Al-Rai daily.
Yoshida, the visionary young leader of startup Tsubame Industries, shared his aspiration, saying, "I want people's dreams to come true. As children, we all yearned to step inside a robot and take the reins, just like in science fiction movies. Archax is a machine that brings us a step closer to that sci-fi world."
At the heart of Yoshida's $3 million creation lies the idea of blending human and machine in a harmonious partnership. He envisions a future where individuals don't merely operate the robot from within but actually become the robot, as if they had transformed into a colossal figure. Yoshida is not limited to the development of robots alone; his ambition extends to crafting a system that unites the machine and the person who guides its movements
.
When it comes to practical applications, Yoshida sees a wide spectrum of possibilities, spanning from recreational uses like robot battles to more utilitarian roles such as disaster debris removal and construction work. His pursuit goes beyond the mere development of impressive robotic technology; it seeks to blur the lines between man and machine, ushering in a new era of human-robot integration.
