Jay Leno and Mavis Leno.

LOS ANGELES, Jan 28, (Agencies): Jay Leno recently submitted a petition for conservatorship for his longtime spouse, Mavis, who has received a dementia diagnosis. The former host of The Tonight Show filed the necessary documents last Friday, expressing his intention to establish a living trust for Mavis. The purpose of this trust is to manage her assets and ensure she receives proper care in the future, especially in the event of his passing.

In the filed paperwork, Leno emphasized that Mavis does not oppose the creation of a conservatorship and has no specific preference for an alternative conservator. Additionally, Leno has requested that Mavis be excused from attending the court hearing on the conservatorship, citing concerns about the potential negative impact on her mental and physical well-being.

Dementia, as noted by the Centers for Disease Control, hampers an individual's capacity to remember, think, and make decisions, thereby affecting their ability to carry out daily activities.
