KUWAIT CITY, April 17: Hawally detectives have successfully closed 12 theft cases involving school cafeterias in the South Surra area, following the arrest of 10 juveniles. The suspects admitted to forming a gang that targeted schools at night, particularly on cold winter days when security guards were likely to remain indoors. They scaled school walls and stole cash and food items from the cafeterias.
The series of theft reports prompted the Criminal Security Sector to assign a team from the Hawally Field Investigations Unit. Surveillance cameras captured footage of the culprits sneaking into the schools and fleeing the scenes. The images were shown to school principals, teachers, and guards, who identified a 15-year-old suspect. Upon his arrest, authorities found KD 1,250 in his possession. He later named his accomplices, all of whom were subsequently apprehended and confessed to their involvement. The total value of the stolen items exceeded KD 4,800, with the first suspect receiving the largest share as the gang’s ringleader. All ten juveniles have been referred to the Juvenile Prosecution for legal action.
