DOHA, Nov 20: Kazma is determined to continue its remarkable journey and secure a spot in the final of the 27th Asian Handball Clubs Champions Championship. The "Orange" will face Sharjah of the UAE tonight at 7:00 pm in Doha, Qatar. The other semi-final will feature Al-Khaleej of Saudi Arabia against Qatar's Al-Duhail at 5:00 pm.
In the ranking rounds, Kuwait Club takes on Iran's Mes Kerman at 3:00 pm, while Al-Rayyan of Qatar meets Bahrain's Al-Shabab at 1:00 pm.
Kazma delivered a stunning performance in the quarter-finals, defeating Kuwait Club 32-25. The other quarter-final results saw Al-Khaleej triumph over Al-Shabab 35-20, Sharjah overpowers Mes Kerman 36-25, and Al-Duhail narrowly edge out Al-Rayyan 24-23 in a thrilling Qatari derby.
Kazma's victory over Kuwait Club was particularly surprising given its inconsistent group stage performance, where it managed just one win against Omani side Ahli Sidab, suffering losses to Al-Khaleej, Al-Duhail, and Mes Kerman. In contrast, Kuwait Club dominated its group with three wins against Al-Rayyan, Sharjah, and Al-Shabab, positioning itself as a favorite for the semi-finals.
In the quarter-final clash, Kazma displayed exceptional focus and determination. It effectively neutralized Kuwait Club’s key players while capitalizing on fast counterattacks, securing a decisive 32-25 victory.
Kazma’s Serbian coach, Rodek Bozo, praised his team for meeting expectations and advancing to the semi-finals. "We stayed focused throughout the match, which allowed us to achieve this important victory," he said.
Tunisian professional Anwar bin Abdullah acknowledged Kazma’s struggles in the group stage but expressed confidence in the team’s resolve. "We performed below expectations in the first round but gave our all when it mattered most. We are determined to give our best effort against Sharjah to reach the final," he stated.
Kazma now looks to build on its momentum as it prepares for what promises to be a highly competitive semi-final.
