KUWAIT CITY, Feb 2: The Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) expressed its desire to benefit from US expertise in medical technology, scientific research, and healthcare innovation to support the country's ambitious healthcare plans in alignment with its Vision 2035. This statement was made following a visit from a U.S. Embassy delegation specializing in healthcare, led by Senior Commercial Officer Daryl Cheng. The meeting was attended by representatives from Kuwait's Ministry of Health, the Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), and various stakeholders in the healthcare sector.
KCCI emphasized the long-standing and expanding ties between Kuwait and the United States, reflecting shared values and mutual commitments to progress and prosperity. Over the years, these relations have grown across multiple domains, including technology, education, energy, and trade. Among the most significant areas of collaboration is the healthcare sector, as Kuwait has long recognized the importance of strengthening its healthcare system, developing advanced infrastructure, and fostering innovation to meet the evolving needs of its citizens.
The chamber recalled the lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, which highlighted the necessity for resilient and innovative healthcare infrastructures and the importance of robust global health systems. The pandemic exposed weaknesses in global healthcare systems but also accelerated advancements in medical research, digital health, and public health emergency preparedness.
KCCI emphasized that investing in healthcare is crucial for national security, economic stability, and social well-being. In the post-pandemic era, governments and organizations globally are focusing on building stronger health systems to address future challenges. Kuwait is keen to tackle these challenges through innovation and partnerships, particularly with the United States, which is a global leader in healthcare.
In his speech, Cheng praised Kuwait's enthusiasm for expanding economic cooperation with the U.S. and highlighted Kuwait’s status as an important trading partner. He expressed hope that the meeting would help further strengthen bilateral economic ties, especially in the healthcare sector.
Meanwhile, KDIPA presented an overview of Kuwait's Vision 2035, focusing on healthcare projects and partnerships, among other sectors, aimed at driving the country's development. This collaboration is seen as a key step in enhancing Kuwait’s healthcare infrastructure and aligning it with its long-term goals for sustainable growth and innovation.
