KUWAIT CITY, April 22: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department, Salmiya, have arrested three expatriates for bootlegging. The Al-Seyassah daily said the suspects were caught in Salmiya in possession of 213 bottles of locally produced booze. They were caught red-handed while attempting to transfer booze bottles from a taxi to another vehicle. According to a security source, the expatriates were intercepted near a vacant lot. A police patrol suspected a parked taxi adjacent to another car, with the suspects busy transferring ‘something’ between the two vehicles. When the CID men approached the taxi, the suspects attempted to escape but were arrested after putting up a fierce resistance. During interrogation, the bootleggers confessed to manufacturing alcohol for sale. They added, they sold one bottle for 10 dinars (for home delivery service).
