KUWAIT CITY, March 14: General Manager of Al-Durra Domestic Labor Recruitment Company Muhammad Fahd Al- Zoubi has confirmed that the holy month of Ramadan this year witnessed unprecedented stability in the domestic labor sector due to the decision of the Ministry of Commerce to fix the fee for recruiting a domestic worker at KD 750 including the plane ticket, reports Al-Anba daily. He said the number of female workers escaping from their employers and being exploited by some domestic labor recruitment office owners has decreased, coinciding with the high demand for these workers in Ramadan and the disappearance of fake advertisements about temporary workers.

He added all these are attributed to the efforts of the Joint Committee to strictly enforce the laws on labor recruitment offices. He pointed out that the fake offices are one of the reasons for the prevalence of absconding cases among domestic workers, especially before Ramadan. The awareness of citizens and expatriates also played a role as they follow the laws and instructions in this regard, he affirmed. He warned citizens and residents against dealing with fictitious or fraudulent entities that use the company’s name and logo on social media sites, taking advantage of its success in attracting many citizens and expatriates to recruit domestic workers at the same government price. He asserted that legal procedures are in place, and the company follows these procedures to pursue those who impersonate its name and capacity.
