WASHINGTON, Nov 22, (Agencies): A pit bull mix named Bolo is gearing up for duty as the inaugural "paw-trol officer" at the Hopkinsville Police Department (HPD) in Kentucky. Mayor James R. Knight Jr administered the swearing-in ceremony for Bolo at a recent city council meeting on Nov 7, with the City of Hopkinsville sharing a heartwarming video of the event on its Facebook page.
In the video, Bolo, the last to take the oath at the meeting, garnered applause and numerous "awws" as he approached Mayor Knight. With a solemn pledge to "support the citizens of the City of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, as I serve as Paw-trol Dog," Bolo marked the occasion by leaving an inky paw print on his signed oath.
The city's Facebook caption highlighted Bolo's journey, mentioning how he captured the hearts of the Hopkinsville Police Department staff during a visit from the Christian County Animal Shelter. The caption expressed excitement about Bolo officially joining the team and becoming HPD's first Paw-trol Officer.
HPD also shared the news on its own platform, featuring a photo of Bolo proudly displaying his new badge. The department's post congratulated Bolo and his "coworkers" on the special occasion, looking forward to following the sweet pup's career on the force.
