Kuwait City, Jan 28: As part of its leadership and role in sustainability, Kuwait Finance House (KFH) participated in the International Horticultural Expo 2023 in Qatar.

The Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha, from October 2023 until March 2024, is held for the first time in the Middle East, with the participation of 80 countries and 3 million visitors.

Under the slogan “Green Desert, Better Environment”, the event attracts a number of public, private, and non-governmental sectors, in addition to universities and experts. The aim of Expo Doha is to identify solutions and promote green living through international collaboration, modern agriculture, innovation, technology, environmental awareness, and sustainability.

On the sidelines of Expo 2023 Doha, the Kuwait pavilion hosted a discussion session titled “The Role of Private Sector in Sustainability”, and it was organized as part of the "Responsible Banking Services towards achieving Sustainable Growth” event.

During the discussion, KFH Executive Manager Governance and Sustainability, Mohammad Alarbeed, showcased KFH’s experience in promoting sustainability and integrating ESG practices into all its operations. He underlined the Bank’s ceaseless efforts in introducing green finance products and aligning its business with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Alarbeed discussed the banking policies and procedures that would maintain the precise implementation of effective strategies to achieve sustainable growth.

He also shed light on the (Keep it Green) campaign, the umbrella of KFH’s sustainable and environmental initiatives.

Alarbeed explained that the sustainability strategy of KFH is founded upon its rich history in sustainable Islamic finance, its role as the largest bank in Kuwait and the second largest Islamic bank in the world, and its wide network spanning nearly all continents. “Being a key in its strategy, sustainability is integrated into all operations of KFH,” said Alarbeed.

Meanwhile, Environment Public Authority (EPA) Acting General Manager, Eng. Samira Al Kandari commended KFH’s participation in the event and lauded its sustainability and environmental efforts. “KFH is one of the renowned institutions the EPA collaborates with in the different sustainability and environmental activities,” added Al Kandari.
