KUWAIT CITY, Jan 25: Kuwait Finance House (KFH) granted the Environmental Sustainability Award to the winners from the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University during an awards ceremony for student projects. The event concluded the 47th Engineering Design Exhibition, held under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Nader Abdullah Al-Jalal.
It is worth noting that KFH is the main and largest supporter of the students at the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University and a key partner of the Engineering Design Exhibition.
KFH awarded first and second place awards to the winners of the best engineering projects that focused on environmental sustainability.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that KFH has dedicated an award to environmental sustainability, as part of its commitment to promoting initiatives under its (Keep it green) campaign. This initiative aligns with KFH's comprehensive sustainability strategy and its adherence to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.
The winning projects were announced during the closing ceremony of the exhibition, which took place on campus in the presence of the Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum, Professor Khalid Al-Hazza, along with senior officials and faculty members. The awards were granted based on a rigorous study and comprehensive evaluation by a committee of experts.
The project Greth, developed by students Alaa Shuaib, Manayer Al-Hadhoud, Nuwaier Al-Rashidi, and Haya Al-Azmi, was awarded first place. The second-place award was granted to the project Blue Horizon Fuel, created by students Manayer Al-Marri, Raghad Al-Munini, Shouq Al-Shammari, and Maram Aa’kasha.
In his remarks, KFH Executive Manager Corporate Relations and CSR, Faisal Alsurayye emphasized that supporting graduate students participating in the Engineering Design Exhibition is a priority for the bank. This aligns with KFH’s strategy to support students, youth, and the community by fostering their creativity, encouraging outstanding projects, and promoting scientific initiatives.
He also explained that KFH annually supports over 300 graduates from the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University. This fosters a thriving scientific environment conducive to innovation and achievement, nurturing young talent and empowering students to develop and succeed.
