KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, emphasized that Kuwait’s hosting of the “Khaleeji Zain 26” symbolizes the strong and brotherly bonds that unite the Gulf nations, offering a beautiful and competitive sports atmosphere for youth.

In a statement to the media following the opening of the main media center for the championship at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Minister Al-Mutairi, who also leads the Supreme Organizing Committee, highlighted that the Gulf Cup, since its inception in 1970, has been a beacon of youth sports throughout its rich history.

He expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering support of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Their commitment played a vital role in ensuring the championship's success.

The minister stressed that the organizing committee took great care in equipping the media center with the latest technology and resources, ensuring that media professionals from Kuwait and other Gulf countries can effectively cover the event, reaching a global audience.

Al-Mutairi also explained that the committee worked tirelessly to ensure a flawless event, with a special emphasis on organizing a distinguished opening ceremony fitting for such a prestigious Gulf sports forum. He commended the hard work of all committees and the valuable contributions of young volunteers in preparing for the tournament.

He further noted the Gulf Cup's significant role in enhancing the Gulf region’s sports framework, contributing to the successful organization of major international events such as the Qatar 2022 World Cup and various continental tournaments. He pointed to Saudi Arabia’s upcoming hosting of the 2034 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup, which aligns with the tournament's theme, “The Future is Gulf.” This achievement, he said, is a direct result of the leaders' vision and commitment to supporting youth development.

Minister Al-Mutairi revealed plans, in coordination with the Kuwait Football Association, to submit a bid to host the 2031 Asian Cup, as part of efforts to host more international tournaments in the coming years, highlighting Kuwait's skilled workforce and organizational expertise.

Additionally, he mentioned the formation of a Quality Committee to develop a procedural guide and institutional memory for future sports events, ensuring efficient and well-planned organization.

Finally, Al-Mutairi expressed his excitement in welcoming fans and visitors to Kuwait to enjoy the tournament, with matches taking place at Jaber International Stadium and Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium. The organizing committee has also included the "Hayakom" app, which guides visitors to key tourist attractions in Kuwait, allowing them to explore the country alongside the tournament.
