KUWAIT CITY, Dec 31: With just three days left until the conclusion of Khaleeji Zain 26, this Gulf Cup stands out as one of the most well-organized and competitive tournaments since its inception 54 years ago in Bahrain. The championship has attracted record-breaking fan attendance and extensive media coverage from the preliminary rounds to the semi-finals.

Over 12 days, tens of thousands of fans flocked to Kuwait, the "Land of Friendship and Peace," to experience a sporting spectacle. Kicking off on December 21, the tournament has received widespread praise from sports and media professionals, former stars, team staff, players from all eight participating nations, and passionate Gulf football fans. From their warm welcome to the carnival-like atmosphere both inside and outside the stadiums, Kuwait has left an indelible mark on all attendees.

The high level of competition and fan enthusiasm did not overshadow the prevailing spirit of brotherhood, making this edition of the Gulf Cup truly exceptional.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Football Association, lauded the brotherly atmosphere fostered by Khaleeji Zain 26, emphasizing its role in strengthening bonds between Gulf nations. Speaking at a luncheon hosted by Sheikh Ahmed Al Yousef, he said, “The Gulf Cup tournaments always unite us, and that is the true victory of holding such events regularly.”

He commended Kuwait’s exceptional organizational capabilities, stating that expectations for a remarkable event were met from day one. Khalifa highlighted the tournament’s pivotal role in developing football in the region and providing a platform for emerging talent.

Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Head of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, described the Gulf gathering as the greatest achievement of the championship. During a luncheon at the Salmiya Diwan, he noted, “What makes Gulf tournaments unique are the events accompanying the competitions. We are delighted to host this Gulf sports gathering in the Land of Friendship and Peace.”

Saad Al-Houti, former captain of Kuwait’s 1982 World Cup team, emphasized the importance of providing greater support to the current national team. He noted, “Football has evolved significantly, and more backing will enable our players to reach higher levels and shine in future competitions.”

Saad Anad, Chairman of Al-Sulaibikhat Club, celebrated the dual success of the Gulf Cup and the opening of Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium. He highlighted how the stadium has revitalized the Al-Sulaibikhat area and garnered widespread praise as a state-of-the-art sports facility.

Emirati media figure Mohammed Al-Joker praised Kuwait’s seamless organization, saying, “From the opening ceremony to accompanying events and media coverage, Gulf Zain 26 exemplified professionalism and reinforced Kuwait’s position as a leader in sports, culture, and media.”

Former national team star Wael Soliman declared Gulf Zain 26 as one of the best tournaments in Gulf Cup history. He attributed its success to Kuwait’s expertise in hosting major events and 

Former Al-Salmiya Club star Hussein Al-Khadri described the tournament as an unforgettable experience, praising the organizing committee for their meticulous attention to detail.

Former Al-Qadsiya Club player Khalaf Al-Salama highlighted the large crowds and their enthusiasm as clear indicators of the tournament’s success. “Football’s joy lies in its fans, and the massive attendance shows Gulf Zain 26 has excelled on every level.”
