KNPC and KIPIC merger achieves key milestones

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: Informed sources revealed ongoing efforts to accelerate and expand the merger process between the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) and the Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) shortly, as some facilities will be merged and others will be phased out, accompanied by a series of transfers and promotions. They explained that the CEO of KNPC Wadha Al-Khatib, who also serves as the acting CEO of KIPIC, is focusing on injecting fresh talent into midlevel positions in both companies.

This initiative aims to elevate the efficiency and experience of the personnel, to boost profits for both companies in the current fiscal year. It was noted that KIPIC has achieved major milestones following its merger with KNPC, including its recent success in exporting a shipment of high-quality diesel that meets French specifications. This is particularly noteworthy as France mandates the delivery of completely clean diesel that complies with rigorous environmental standards.

The company has also made great progress in its digital transformation efforts, including partnering with international firms in the field of digital technologies to enhance the use of modern digital solutions in all its operations. The sources revealed that the liquefied gas import terminal reported zero work-related injuries in 2024, adding that it successfully received three liquefied gas shipments simultaneously, which confirms the terminal’s capacity to handle all gas supplies, and ensures a continuous and reliable supply to the country. On the other hand, they highlighted that the Zour Refinery recently achieved success in reaching its maximum production capacity of 615,000 barrels per day through the blending of heavy and medium crude oils. The sources commended the role of Kuwait Oil Company in this achievement, as it consistently supplies the refinery with the necessary crude oil, which helps in sustaining and increasing production levels.
