KPC to go for 95 percent Kuwaitization by year ’28

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 12: Due to the percentage of Kuwaitis employed in the oil sector reaching 91 percent in the first quarter of 2024, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) has asked its subsidiaries to designate 2025 as the year for recruiting nationals in a bid to achieve the target Kuwaitization rate in the oil sector -- more than 95 percent by 2028. Sources informed the newspaper there will be more flexibility in the testing process for citizens applying for jobs in oil companies, even though there will still be some requirements that employees in the oil industry must fulfill.

They affirmed that KPC’s recent announcement about its plan to offer an opportunity to fresh Kuwaiti graduates to work in one of the major oil companies is in line with the total Kuwaitization strategy in the upcoming years. Sources said majority of the specializations in the oil industry jobs that will be filled next year will be for those who hold a bachelor’s degree in Geology and Petroleum Engineering; and those who have completed a two-year diploma program in certain technical specializations like mechanical power transmission, chemical industries, and petroleum exploration and production.
