KUWAIT CITY, Jul 15: The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) has launched an urgent relief project to aid thousands of displaced Palestinians in the Al-Mawasi area, located west of Khan Younis city in the southern Gaza Strip. Mohsen Al-Atawneh, Director General of the Wafa Foundation for Development and Capacity Building in Palestine, which is overseeing the project, informed KUNA on Monday that the relief effort includes distributing food meals and health packages to meet the urgent needs of displaced individuals facing challenging humanitarian and health conditions.
Al-Atawneh emphasized that the project aims to support the resilience of displaced persons, especially those in camps recently affected by Israeli occupation actions. He detailed the distribution process, highlighting the provision of hot meals and bread bundles due to the scarcity of cooking gas, alongside health packages containing essential personal hygiene items currently lacking in southern Gaza.
He underscored the project's critical importance amid ongoing Israeli aggression for the past ten months, which has obstructed humanitarian aid and closed all crossings into Gaza. Since the conflict began, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society has initiated multiple humanitarian projects, including sending convoys and medical teams to treat Palestinian patients. Additionally, the society established the Kuwait Red Crescent Field Hospital, operating continuously to address critical medical cases despite facing operational constraints and threats from Israeli forces targeting nearby hospitals.
