Kuwait: A Nation Where No One Sleeps Hungry

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: Kuwait has once again secured the top position in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2024, ranking among the least hungry countries in the world with a score of less than 5 points. The country shares this position with 22 other nations, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), due to identical scores.
The GHI evaluates global hunger levels based on four key indicators: undernourishment among the population, child wasting, child stunting, and the under-five mortality rate. Historical data confirms that Kuwait has consistently maintained its low hunger score in previous editions of the index, highlighting the country’s strong food security and socioeconomic stability.

In the Gulf and Arab region, Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries continue to lead in achieving the lowest hunger levels worldwide. Experts attribute this success to the region’s economic stability, effective food policies, and strong government initiatives ensuring food security.

Belarus, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, and Kuwait ranked among the top 10 countries in the Global Hunger Index, while Burundi, South Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Chad, Madagascar, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Lesotho, Niger, and Liberia were listed among the lowest-ranked nations.
