Gulf gender gap

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: Kuwait advanced 4 places to rank 122 in the world and second in the Gulf in the gender gap index 2020 issued by the World Economic Forum, reports Al- Rai daily.

According to the annual index that included 153 countries, Kuwait managed to bridge 65 percent of the gender gap, and ranked 120 globally at the level of opportunity and economic participation by 58 percent, while achieving the 57th position globally in terms of educational attainment by 99 percent, which made Kuwait rank first in the Arab and Gulf countries in these two components.

Kuwait ranked 143 globally, with a 96% health and life scale, and 142nd with a 5% lower level in terms of political empowerment. According to a report accompanying the index, the MENA region managed to bridge the gender gap in health with an average of 96.9 percent, indicating that in all countries of the region, with the exception of Kuwait and Bahrain, women live longer than men.
