KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: Customs inspectors at Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 5 (T5) seized 192 tablets of controlled medication after discovering them concealed inside boxes of nutritional supplements carried by a male passenger.

According to the General Administration of Customs, the seizure comprised 93 Lyrica tablets and 99 Tramadol tablets. Both medications are classified as controlled substances.

The passenger had allegedly hidden the tablets inside nutritional supplement boxes in an attempt to smuggle them into the country. Customs inspectors discovered the concealed medication during an inspection.

A seizure report was prepared, and the suspect, along with the confiscated tablets, was referred to the General Department for Drug and Alcohol Control for further legal action.

The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its inspectors’ continued efforts to monitor entry points, detect concealed prohibited substances and prevent attempts to circumvent customs procedures.

The authority said these measures are aimed at combating the smuggling of narcotic and psychotropic substances and protecting Kuwait’s security and public well-being.
